Match imports on your own identifiers

You can now add your own external identifiers, like a voter file ID, under Settings > People > Fields and match CSV imports on them. When a row's identifier isn't on file yet, the import falls back to matching by email or phone and attaches the identifier to that person.

Many organizations already have a stable ID for each person, such as a voter file ID or an ID from another system. You can now add these to Daisychain as custom identifiers in the new External Identifiers section of Settings > People > Fields, where you can add, rename, and delete them. Identifiers that come from your integrations are listed there too, read-only.

When you import a CSV, your custom identifiers appear in column mapping and as an option to match people on. If an identifier isn't on file yet, the import falls back to matching by email or phone and attaches the identifier to the person it finds.

Custom identifiers also show up in other places:

  • People exports include a column for each custom identifier, so you can re-import an export and match on it.
  • A person's custom identifiers are shown under their name on their page.
  • Keyword search on the People page also finds people by their custom identifiers, ignoring case.

Identifier names can't be the same as a people export column or one of your custom field identifiers, so exports and import column mapping stay unambiguous.
